OrtiNesima

Urban regeneration project of Nesima neighborhood in Catania (Italy), starting from the youngest.

Together with the students of “Vittorino da Feltre” school, located in the Nesima neighborhood, we started a process of analysis, starting from the investigation of the places’ perception.
The project involved more than twenty young designers – students from the University of Catania after an initial training phase, with lessons and seminars led by the members of the association.

We worked together on all phases of the project, from the analysis and identification of needs to the design and participatory regeneration of the outdoor spaces of the Vittorino da Feltre Institute, together with the students of three classes of the school.

The aim of the project was not only the improvement of the spaces, but above all the awareness of the individual’s control over the choices within the space.
The awareness that even micro co-design interventions, carried out without any budget, can improve the liveability of the context in which they live.
